It is unfair that I went to the very first showing of Snakes on a Plane last Thursday evening, and all my ticket stub says is, "Snakes on." I would really like to have kept it as a memento, but as it looked, it was rather... anti-climactic?

Yet af_cop Philip went last night, and his ticket reads, "Snakes on Plane." And he wasn't nearly as excited about the movie for months and months ahead of time!

It's not fair.

I've uploaded the 35 screencaps from the music video "Snakes On a Plane (Bring It)" by Cobra Starship. Check them out HERE.

Oh, but here's another teaser... )

My boys are so easy to put to bed. Hug, kiss, goodnight, turn off the lights, shut the door - done! I love that.

Jack and I are planning to eat lunch with A.J. at school tomorrow. It's actually kind of pathetic that this is now his fourth year at the elementary school (K-3), but I've never thought to do this before. On the menu for tomorrow is hot dogs, so I'm sure we'll all enjoy our lunch.

I've got a small checklist of things to get done here in the office tonight, and I'm going to put it down here to keep myself motivated:
  • Add dental appointments to day planner (I just remembered that they are still listed on cards on the fridge)

  • File music CDs we purchased on vacation into our collection (they've already been put into iTunes)

  • Fill out cell phone rebate form and ready it for the mail

  • Download pictures from A.J.'s birthday party

  • Finish uploading screencaps from "Snakes On a Plane (Bring It)" music video

  • File paperwork (bank and bill statements, ATM receipts)

  • Write repair form to Canon

  • Put up a new Underground Lake editorial

That should keep me fairly busy, I think. :-)

Edited to add: Everything is done now, so I've taken out the strikes. :-)

I totally just sat for an hour and made 35 really good screencaps from the "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It) music video. Yep, I did.

But I'm too tired to share them tonight. I'll upload them tomorrow. And [livejournal.com profile] loquacis, there's one that's just for you. ;-)

Edited to add: Oh, but here's a teaser... )

Snakes on a Plane = AWESOMENESS!

Seriously, it is made of awesome. Sooooo many faces I recognized, even if going into it I knew of only THE Mr. Jackson. It was awesome.

We as an audience collectively laughed, clapped, cheered, whooped and sang when it was appropriate. I'm so glad that I was at the showing where the most fanatical other SoaP fans were. It made things awesomer*.

Snakes on a Spoiler! )

Not scary - it was never meant to be. Not serious - again, never the intention. "LOL Movie of the Summer?" - YOU. BET.

* I realize I was a bit gratuitous with the AWESOME in this post. However, it really is just that, and I think it more up my alley to go on about all things AWESOME than things that are mf'ingly AWESOME... right?

The day has revolved around snake discussions. It's only proper, since I will be seeing the movie in three hours and nine minutes. :-D

We finally got our replacement cell phone today. And we bought insurance this time. *sigh*

I've got homemade macaroni 'n cheese in the oven right now, and I'm making hamburger patties and a vegetable to go with it (though I've not decided which veggie yet). I want dinner done on time so that the boys can bathe and be in bed exactly at 9pm. They'll have a better chance of being asleep when squeak_a_chu Heather2, Andy and Joseaphine arrive later, and Andy and I set off for the movie.

I'm so excited!

SoaP!

It's official. Snakes on a Plane tickets have just been purchased. I'm heading to see the movie in just 19.5 hours!

*squeeeee*

Edited to add: And the video for "Snakes on a Plane (Bring It)" is hilarious. And toe-tappingly good. It's catchy, even if you don't want it to be. However, I'm ticked at iTunes for not making the song available for single purchase (you must purchase the full album only). So I just bought the video instead. I don't want all those other remixes, dangit!

I dropped A.J. off at school this morning and came back home and tried to sleep a bit more. I shouldn't have even tried, as my rest was fitful and filled with sad thoughts instead.

I got up and got dressed. I got Jack dressed, and I woke Philip up. We took him to work, and then we ran a few errands. We ate lunch while we were out, and then we came home again. Jack received another birthday present in the mail - a Cars racetrack. We put that together and raced each other for half an hour or so before it was time to pick up Philip from work. We ran some more errands, and then I dropped him and Jack off at home. Philip began mowing the yard, and I went to pick up A.J. from school.

I dropped A.J. off at home, and he and Jack began racing each other. They haven't stopped since, in fact. :-) I went to Hallmark for some cards and to Nobbies to place the balloon order for A.J.'s party. I found some Hogwarts tattoos while I was there, and that cheered me up immensely. I'm dying to don my new Slytherin tattoo!

We're heading over to Ryan's (Philip's manager and friend from Runza) condo tonight to swim in their pool and cook out. They're grilling hot dogs and such, and we're bringing the ice. After swimming, we're heading out to Chris's house for some 4-wheelin'. The boys have never ridden 4-wheelers before, so I'll be taking the camera.

Speaking of cameras, I have to mail mine good one back to Canon tomorrow. I'm sad about that, but I am glad that they will be able to fix it.

And I've got a friend to see Snakes on a Plane with me on Thursday night now. I'm uber-excited about that. squeak_a_chu Heather2's husband Andy is going to go with me, and she's going to stay here at my house. The showing is at 10pm, and the boys go to bed at 9pm, so she'll have an easy time here, I'm sure. SoaP!

Wow, this entry really has its ups and downs, doesn't it?

It saddens me greatly that there is a 10pm showing of Snakes on a Plane next Thursday night (the movie "opens" on Friday the 18th), but I can't see it then. The first showing, and I can't go. Philip's off the next three nights, but not that one. And not only is it much too late for me to call my regular babysitter, but it's also a school night.

'Twasn't meant to be.

*sigh*

But I'll be seeing it on Friday, most likely.

OMG!

Samuel L. Jackson just called my home (okay, yeah, I'm sure it was a recording, but still!). I said, "Hello?" as per my usual, and he started talking, "Nicole, this is Samuel L. Jackson..."

He went on for a full minute, and I was scrambling to get my voice recorder set up on the computer and catch part of it, but I didn't get it in time. He was telling me about how I need to get away from my plants (how did he KNOW?!) and get to watching Snakes on a Plane!

Heck, yeah! It was already my plan, but I'll do anything for you, Mr. Jackson!

...

Now how did that happen?! Is one of you behind my glorious and mysterious phone call?

Edited to add: Alright, I've called a few people, and I've looked all over online. As of this moment, I can't find ANYTHING about phone calls like this! I was hoping to maybe find a script or something online, but Google is really failing me at the moment...

There could be absolutely no other icons for this post. :-D

Intesting news story yanked from [livejournal.com profile] jjustj:

Pilot Finds Snake Stowaway Inside Cockpit

Jun 3, 6:47 AM (ET)

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Monty Coles was 3,000 feet in the air when he discovered a stowaway peeking out at him from the plane's instrument panel: a 4 1/2-foot snake.

Coles was taking a leisurely flight over the West Virginia countryside in his Piper Cherokee last weekend and was preparing to land in Ohio when the snake revealed itself.

"Nothing in any of the manuals ever described anything like this," said the 62-year-old Cross Lanes resident.

But advice given 25 years earlier from his flight instructor sprung to mind: "No matter what happens, fly the plane."

Coles attempted to swat the snake but it fell to the pilot's feet, then darted to the other side of the cockpit.

While maintaining control of the single-engine plane with one hand, Coles grabbed the reptile behind its head with his other.

"There was no way I was letting that thing go," he said. "It coiled all around my arm, and its tail grabbed hold of a lever on the floor and started pulling."

The next step was to radio for emergency landing clearance.

"They came back and asked what my problem was," he said. "I told them I had one hand full of snake and the other hand full of plane. They cleared me in."

After a smooth landing, Coles posed for pictures with the snake, then let it loose.

"That snake resides in Ohio now," he said.
