We had a playdate today with
Jamie and her kiddos this afternoon. We'd run into them at
Heather's house yesterday afternoon (Jamie was picking up her 'Miss Ivy,' and the boys and I were checking on Heather's kitties and house), and I invited them over for some Banzai Falls and playtime. We set up the slide just after 3pm, and then I watered the garden before they arrived. When they pulled in the driveway, I unhooked the sprinkler from the hose and attached it to the slide - instant fun! We munched on watermelon, and the kids played with our waterguns too. :-)
Amazingly enough, I didn't take a single picture today. Not of the slide, nor of anything else. I must be getting sick... ha ha.
For our family, Summer 2006 is the summer of pet-sitting. I watched Heather's kitties two weeks ago while she and her husband were in Ohio for the weekend, and I'm on duty again - from yesterday until next Tuesday.
Philip has done his share of pet-sitting as well, as he took care of
Marissa's from the 20-24th of May as well. We're certainly busy in the pet department!
The boys talked about the moon for half an hour tonight, and we just stood gazing out at it. It's not even a full moon right now, but it was still a very clear, pretty night. I must be doing something right, raising them to appreciate the moon as much as I do myself.
I sat yesterday afternoon for over an hour and fully cultivated the garden. The bean, radish, carrot and corn rows are not mulched in between, and little weeds were trying to crop up. The weather was just windy enough to keep me from breaking a sweat, and the garden looked absolutely perfect when I was done - not a weed or spare bit of grass in sight. I was so happy to see that nothing sprung up overnight either, and everything looked just as wonderful today! Not only that, but one roma tomato turned pink overnight and should be ripe soon - huzzah!
(I remember when I used to think people who became excited over their yards were crazy...)
I'm off to read for a bit before turning in somewhat early tonight. Woooo - exciting Friday evening, isn't it? ;-)
