Restored.

Remember when my iTunes directory went kaput a few months back? I've worked on it here and there, and finally - as of tonight - it is fully restored.

Added to, even.

*contented sigh*

I just realized that my iTunes library is practically depleted! I had over 30gb of stuff in there, and now it's done to about 4gb.

Hundreds of albums are missing, all my playlists, movies, and even my purchased tunes...

WHERE DID ALL MY MUSIC GO?!

ETA: I tried tons of fixes, but nothing worked completely. The best I've got is a back-up of my files from October. I've probably got about 8 weeks of work ahead of me to find and restore all the files that are missing. I'm just sitting here crying.

*curses*

I'm a soundtrack junkie. I've said this for years, but it is really, really true.

In re-organizing my iTunes, it becomes oh-so-apparent how many, many soundtracks I have. Oy.

Tuneage.

I spent days and days organizing all of my music in iTunes back when we bought our external harddrive (I like to back things up: our entire music collection is on my iPod, part is on Philip's, and part on each of the boys' iPods, and then the whole collection is also on the external drive). However, in the last six months or so, I've gotten very lazy when purchasing new songs, ripping more CDs, or snagging extra tunes here and there.

So tonight, I'm organizing all of the newer stuff to the same system. When I'm done, I'll redo the back-up on the external drive, too.

Musics.

It's very quiet in our house lately. We gave both of the boys their own iPods for Christmas, and they are tuning us out - literally! A.J.'s reading to tunes in his room, and Jack's in the living room with his iPod clipped to the neck of his shirt.

The first song A.J. played? The Song, by Craig Morgan. Jack's was Yellow Submarine, by the Beatles.

I'm loving all the lack of noise, and I think they're so cute with their earbuds in, rocking away. We are truly an iPod family now! I got Philip a 30gb iPod in '05, broke it, then we replaced it with a 2gb Nano in '07. Last Christmas, he gave me an 80gb video iPod, and now this year we've given the boys their 2gb iPod shuffles (in different colors, of course).

Rock on!

Finally!

YES. iTunes finally released "Life in a Northern Town" (Sugarland/Little Big Town/Jake Owen version) for purchase!

Now I don't have to sit at the computer with a Firefox tab open on my MySpace, hitting 'play' on my profile every few minutes just to listen to the song on repeat.

('Cuz yes, that's what I've been doing for the past few weeks. *sheepish grin*)

I don't know what the deal is lately, but I truly can't pull myself away from the MuggleCast. I listen to it every spare minute of the day, it seems.

I have things I need to do that I can't do parked here in front of my iTunes!

Why can't I find a particular tune in my iTunes right now? I wanna hear "Wrapped Up In You," by Garth Brooks, and it's missing!

Edited to add: It's because I'm fiercely dumb. When I couldn't find it, I did a quick Google search to at least tell me which album to look on (we have them all, including his three Christmas albums), and it pointed me to his "Scarecrow" album. A closer look then yielded - tada! - the song I wanted.

I'm just fifteen minutes into my day, and I already need to start it over.

Praise to all holy, my iTunes is working again! When I tried it today, an update was available. Since 7.0 has never worked, I figured I couldn't mess it up much more by trying 7.1. Success! Everything works now, and there's no garbling, hissing or skipping.

I'd practically forgotten what music could sound like!

For the moment, it appears I've fixed my iTunes.

*is afraid to breathe*

I downloaded a newer version of NVIDIA drivers, even though my current one was up-to-date. I changed my settings to 24 bitrate audio, at 96Hz, and I closed and restarted the application. And this combination seems to be working...

for the moment.

...

Also, Diet Pepsi Jazz Strawberries 'n Cream? Tastes exactly as if I'm sucking on a strawberry Starburst. My very favorite flavor, so it is yummy. :-)

When I opened iTunes this afternoon, it offered me the chance to download the newest version. Usually, there is no issue when I upgrade our iTunes, so I clicked to go ahead to version 7.0.

Argh.

Nothing has been correct since. Our music and video playback is unbelievably choppy. I'm so frustrated. It was working perfectly before! I'm downloading a new driver right now, but to be frank, I'm not even sure if it's the right one - who knows if it will help?

So I'm finally getting around to putting all of "my" music into iTunes (as opposed to "Philip's" music and the music that would be considered "joint" music), and I've been really frustrated all day because I can't find my Steve Burns "Songs for Dustmites" CD. I have a CD that I burned myself of some Steve tracks before his CD was released*, and I ripped that into iTunes, but I'm really wanting my "Dustmites" CD. I've searched everywhere, but we really keep our music collection very organized - constantly together, and we're constantly double-checking to make sure everything is correctly alphabetized, etc.

I don't suppose I've loaned it out to anyone local? Anyone?

Bueller... Bueller??

*sigh*

And I just checked, and I can't even purchase the songs from iTunes if I wanted to - the CD is not available through them. I'm so sad.

* back when I was in my uber-crazy Steve Burns fandom and practically LIVED on his website and a fandom board - a handful of you will remember this about me (you might even remember the Dustmites moodtheme I created during this time)
