Baking for Philip.
Oct. 3rd, 2005 06:56 pmThe last batch of chocolate chip cookies are in the oven now, and I'm debating making some snickerdoodles later. Philip really loves both of those - and he deserves them, doesn't he? ;-)
It surreal, you know. It's just hard to actually believe that he's going to be home in such a short time that it's now actually okay to start baking for him again. Crazy! The wait was so long, but the end has been moving so fast!
We made a big banner today, and folks have been coming over all afternoon to sign it. He's got some major artwork to appreciate when he gets home! If any of you guys would like to add something to the banner, email it to me - I'll print it out and stick it on there for you. :-)
In less than 22 hours now, Philip will be back in the good ol' United States! (He will be spending the night in Baltimore tomorrow evening, but he won't be home until Wednesday morning.) Yay!

Agenda for tomorrow.
Oct. 3rd, 2005 10:37 pmI called Philip's 1st Sgt. yesterday afternoon to let him know about this second robbery. The squadron has a new 1st shirt now, and his name just cracks me up - Burrito. Yep, just like the food! He seemed very nice. Of course, I'd known the guy who was "acting 1st shirt" at the time of the first robbery, but the new shirt wants me to come in and speak with him personally - put a face to the name, so to speak. Plus, he told me he wanted to actually SEE me and make sure that I was okay (I'd explained to him that I just wasn't the same emotional wreck this time - that I was just more mad at the whole situation). I was supposed to meet with him this morning, but I had to call and cancel early because I kept A.J. home from school this morning.
So I've got to meet with him in the morning, and then I have to go to the Bellevue Police station. Again. To get a copy of the police report and my statement. Again. I swear, I'm going to be dreaming about that place now - I see it so often, it seems!
On the agenda for the rest of the day is just organizing, straightening, cleaning, etc. Not that Philip will even care (because he wouldn't care if the house were filthy, I'm sure), but just because then I won't have to do hardly anything for the first several days that he's home. I really deep-cleaned before my Pampered Chef party last Sunday, so I've really just "maintained" the status of the house since last week. I don't have much that needs to be done, but I would like to clean and vacuum out the car. And I need to move back into "my" spaces again. See, with all the empty space in the closet and dressers, I sorta took over. Now I've got to make sure there's room to put all of his things again. Oops. ;-)
T-minus 35 hours, 53 minutes!

Deals with robots.
Oct. 3rd, 2005 10:57 pmI wanted to buy the movie Robots when it came out last Tuesday. The debut day came, and I decided it would be better to wait until payday on Friday to buy it. On Friday, I had a "Dining Divas" event to attend at Mama Alvino's, so I decided to buy the boys frozen dinners as easy meals during their time with a babysitter.
I ran to Baker's close by since I was just grabbing those dinners quickly. When we walked in, there was an end-cap display set up with Robots. I saw that the price said $19.99, and I thought to myself, "Nah, I can get it for $17-something at Wal*Mart later, I'm sure." Right then, though, I noticed an advertisement underneath the movies. If you purchased the DVD Robots, you got all of the following for free:
That was about $10-11 worth of stuff! Of course, it's all snack-y junk food, but it's all stuff that we all love, too. I decided it was worth it, so I just grabbed a second frozen dinner and then we were set to check out. Good deal! :-)

- a 3-pack box of ACT II® microwave popcorn, any variety (I chose 'Movie Butter')
- an 8-pack box of Pop-Tarts®, any variety (I went with 'Strawberry Iced')
- a 4-pack carton of any variety Hunts® pudding (we chose 'Chocolate Caramel Swirl')
- an 18oz. jar of Peter Pan® peanut butter ('Creamy with Extra Calcium')
- a 15oz. package of E.L. Fudge cookies (we grabbed 'Deluxe Grahams')
- a Kid's Cuisine® frozen dinner (hey, that's what I was coming for in the first place!)
