Have a fantastic one, dear

Well, we made it to church on time. In fact, we made it even just a few minutes early - amazing! The service was another really good one (wow, I find that I'm saying this most every single week!). There was a short video montage at the beginning of the sermon, and in this montage, our junior pastor, Pastor David, was wearing a full Superman costume. He was flying and battling evil and punching out bad dudes - it was hilarious! The video ended, and Pastor David came 'flying' down the center aisle in his robes, Bible in hand, still wearing his Superman cape. He got to the pulpit and exclaimed, "I'm SuperPastor!"
We all laughed, and he launched into his sermon. He's not really SuperPastor, of course, but we are all superheroes when we use our spiritual gifts to their fullest potential, thereby serving His higher purpose and plan for His Kingdom.
I really, really love my church. I've never felt so alive, so connected to a church before as I do now. I know that a lot of it has to do with being a grown-up now, whereas I still have very child-like memories from my youth group days. It's the difference in seeing how the church 'works,' rather than just absorbing and participating in all the fun things. It felt so amazing to stand on the stage last week and officially become a member - renewing, really. I loved it.
I was supposed to pick up a bag in the copy room from Ethel Urbain, but both times when I checked, it wasn't there. I volunteered to help make the baptismal banners for the children (we have a baptism or two most every week). I can't sew, of course, so Ethel is still going to continue to do that part, but I will be cutting out the small felt letters that spell out the child's name, 'Child of God' and the special symbols that need to then be sewn on the banner. I figure I can cut quite a few things out while I'm watching movies at night, and she was very happy to have my help.
We grabbed lunch at Taco Bell on the way home, and may I say, I was very displeased with their packaging today. My bean burrito was so overloaded with sauce that it literally was exploding out of the tortilla, the wrapper and all over the inside of the bag. My chicken soft taco was facing upside-down, and when I pulled it out of the bag, the entire contents scattered all over the inside of the bag instead. My order of nachos was upside-down as well, and the chips had all fallen out of the little bag. Thankfully, though, at least the lid *was* still on the cheese sauce.
Sheesh!
The boys and I are going to see Kicking and Screaming at the theater in a little bit. I'm still in the mood for some popcorn, and when I drove by the marquee, both A.J. and Jack nearly exploded when they saw the sign for that movie. I'd not even heard of it, so I went in and asked what it was all about. They're dying to see it now. There just aren't really any kid movies out there right now, and this seems to be the closest. I'm not really much of a Will Ferrell fan anymore (for instance, I've not yet seen Elf or Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy because he's in them). I just kinda feel like I've already seen all the tricks in his bag, you know? *sigh* Well, we'll see how it goes.

SSgt. Cool
(aka.

... or sunset. I'm really not sure which, but I'm guessing sunrise first. I'm sure he'll let me know. ;-)
My hubby sent me new peektures! He looks like he's in good spirits, and that's a wonderful thing.
( Wanna see more? )
I was glad to get these pictures. The boys love them as well, and I was happy to be able to show them. I never did show the boys the pictures from the explosion Philip was in, and they've been asking like crazy for new ones. Now they have them, and we just have to see how quickly I can get copies printed out. :-)
