navygreen: (Kiki - tree)
Poor Kiki has been having trouble lately. In the fall, we noticed that she seemed to be having difficulty... um, 'clearing' her hind end of poop. That is, when she would poop, she would have dribbles or 'pooples' that lingered in her tushy fur. This wet poop clinging to her made her smell a bit like a walking litter box; therefore, we tried to clean her up whenever we noticed a problem. And when I say 'we,' I mean 'Philip.' I would help him hold her still with her rear exposed, and he'd wipe her of all the offending turdlets with baby wipes. Kiki was never too pleased with the process, and we kept reminding her that she wouldn't have to go through the cleanings if she would only go back to aiming a bit more efficiently.

She hasn't. However, with Philip gone, the kitty-wiping falls to me.

And I absolutely just can't stomach the process. It was one thing to help hold her still, but to be the one actually trying to grab and clean the poop off her rear? Uggggh. I get nauseous just thinking about it. As a result of this, Kiki now has what one would call a 'build-up' of sorts. About two weeks ago, one of the poopies became so large (it was constantly being added to, you know) that it actually FELL OFF, taking with it a few tufts of booty fur. Ewwww!

I realize, though, that no one else is going to step in and do this for me (voluntarily, anyway). So I became proactive today. :-)

The groomer I spoke with today said that this is actually a very common thing. I've had cats my whole life - LOTS of them, in fact. If it is so common, how come I've never been through this before? Many of you on my friends' list are kitty-owners - how many of you have had to go through this? Can I get a "Meow"??

navygreen: (Jack - tired)
I decided earlier this week that I was tired of looking at Philip's side of the bed so empty. When I decided this, I promptly moved all of my pillows over to his side, and I found that I slept just fine while then looking at my own empty side of the bed. For some reason, I have no problems knowing that *I* am no longer sleeping in our bed. ;-)

Last night, though, the bed was blissfully full. starrchld Annie slept over, and we laid in bed and talked until just shy of 3am. I remember thinking at one point that I was going to say one more thing to her, but then holding back, knowing that I was so tired and sleepy then that the entire sentence probably wouldn't even make it out, much less correctly. Ahhh - sleep! At some point in the night, Annie got up to answer her phone. Shortly after she got back in bed, my bladder decided that it needed to be emptied - and how! After attending to that, I crawled back in bed, and I don't remember another thing until the alarm went off at 7:30. Even then, I just turned if off and told myself, "a few more minutes." Luckily, Annie's phone BEEP!ed really loudly at us at 7:44am - otherwise, I would have overslept!

Cyndy and I were unable to find the missing $100 in the paperwork this morning, so we'll have to wait until Monday morning to find out what happens next. :-/ Today has been uneventful for me so far, and the paperwork/money all balanced when I did it an hour ago, so I'm fairly sure that closing today will go smoothly.

I've got some pictures from af_cop Philip that I will be putting up in his journal at some point. He sent me four good ones in an email yesterday, but I was so busy after work that I didn't get a chance to get them up. Not only that, but I still need to go back and make a picture-filled post from a few days ago!

And you know something that I love? I love watching the hair brush softly sort through my hair from the front (looking in the mirror) as I'm brushing my hair from the back. It's such a neat thing - how a hairbrush works - don't you think? Neat.

Yes, I did take the time to type in this entire story to you. I read it in my latest copy of Reader's Digest today, and I just thought it too funny not to share. I looked on the website to see if I could find a link to it and save myself the trouble of typing it up, but I was unsuccessful. Still, it's worth a looksee. :-)
