Breakfast, lunch and dinner.
May. 12th, 2005 11:51 pmThis is how I started off my morning:

Fruit tray of perfection
Today was the last official meeting for this year's Parents at Home group, and we had a Breakfast Potluck to celebrate. I forgot about making anything until yesterday afternoon, so I copped out and made a fruit tray instead last night. I bought all the stuff ($34.11 for all the stuff - holy crap! Fruit trays are EXPENSIVE!), and then
Maria came over last night and helped me prepare everything and make it bee-yootiful. :-) It was gorgeous in its presentation on the table this morning, and everyone seemed to really like the addition of a cheese section on the fruit tray, too (I'd worried about that).
Today was also the last day for one of Jack's classmates, a little girl named Emily. She and her little sister were at our house for the Easter Egg hunt in March, and Jack and Emily had become close friends in the classroom. Emily's family is military as well, and they've received orders to England and will be leaving July 31. However, though the last day of preschool is actually next Tuesday, her family was leaving for one last-minute trip to Texas before getting ready for the move, and today was her last day in the classroom. At the end of the class, the kids all took turns saying what they loved best about Emily. Jack's response? "I love her kisses and hugs." Awww! The cutest part is that we've actually SEEN the two of them kiss a few times, but we're never quick enough with our cameras!
For lunch today, Maria and I went with our at-home kiddos to Mama Alvino's - always a delish meal! I swear, I could eat their mozzarella wedges all day long (though I do pay for it in the 'cheese effects' department later on). I finally tried something other than my traditional ham n' cheese hero, and I decided on the chicken calzone. It was fabulous! I was very, very pleased. :-)
Tonight
Annie and
Patrick and Annie's brother Kage came over for dinner, and they brought all the food for grilling. We had brats, hamburgers, grilled corn, zucchini and squash and leftovers from the morning's fruit tray. Yummy! Annie stayed to watch ER with me (*sigh* - I knew it was coming - *sigh*), and then she headed home.
It's midnight now, and I'm about to hit the sack myself. Tomorrow is Friday, but I'm going to work for Carmelle again. The biopsy she had a few weeks ago (when I last covered for her) revealed that she did indeed have breast cancer, and her surgery was on Wednesday. As such, she has to take things easy (naturally!), and tomorrow is military payday - NOT the definition for an 'easy' day. So, I'll be working all day tomorrow and then again on my regular day of work, Saturday. It shouldn't be too bad, and I'm thinking I'm even going to take my scrapbook stuff with me on Saturday. :-)
