Tonight at 10:06pm was this month's full moon. Of course, even though it's now 2.5 hours past that time, the moon still appears to be a gorgeous full to the naked eye.

Go!
Look!
You know you want to!

Anyone who knows me knows that I moon-gaze each month. I take our binoculars and I stand in the yard or on the driveway in the wee hours of the morning and lovingly stare up at the lunar picture show. I go out the night before the full moon (last night), the night of the full moon (tonight) and also the night after the full moon (tomorrow night). There are 3 nights a month that are magical in their own right for me. And it always seems that the full moon nights are never cloudy - I always get to see that which I love so much.

I love the moon. It looks the same each month, yet so new and exciting each time I see it.
"So if I should visit the moon
Well, I'll dance on a moonbeam and then
I will make a wish on a star
And I'll wish I was home once again
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I may go I'll be coming home soon
'Cause I don't want to live on the moon
No, I don't want to live on the moon"

I said Jack and A.J. were excited about the garden, didn't I?

Here is Jack, playing while holding onto things most important to him: his Sippy cup and his pumpkin seeds.

I never really do quizzes, but I saw this one in [livejournal.com profile] histrionic02's journal, and I just couldn't help myself. If nothing else, it gives me perfect reason to use my 'Commas' icon. ;-)

In other news, because I haven't gushed about it lately, I love hetterrific Heather's house. It is just so gorgeous, and I think I love it more each time I go over there. The boys and I are taking care of her kitties while she and her family are on vacation. We even remembered to give the kitties their gingivitis drops. ;-)

Oh, and Heather's kitties know that I have a penchant - a special, soft spot in my heart, if you will - for decorative, magnetic notepads/shopping lists. As a gift for taking care of them, they got me a set of 12 magnetic shopping list pads, each labeled and themed for a different month of the year. They are so adorable, and April is already on the fridge. :-) Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] doodlesandbug!

Aaa-choo!

It's definitely that season again. Allergy season. Ugh. I've never had problems with allergies until we moved here almost 3 years ago. I was born and raised in pollen-filled East Texas, I lived over 4 years in the woods of West Virginia, and I didn't have a hint of a sniffle during my 3 years in Alaska (though that's not much of a surprise, really), but Nebraska... Oh, NE is an entirely different story.

I must say, though, I notice a huge difference from last year already. I began taking Zyrtec once daily in late September last year, and it really culled my needing an inhaler for allergy-induced asthma attacks. All through the winter, I only needed to use my inhaler once every month or so. Now that allergy season is upon us again, I've already caught myself using it 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

And my eyes. Though they're nothing compared to last year's, they are still a bit irritated. I've been wearing my glasses for 6 weeks straight now, as I can't use my allergy drops with my contact lenses. It's a good thing that I'm still so in love with my new-ish glasses. :-)

So the biggest sign of allergies that I'm having to deal with right now is a very stuffed-up nose each morning. It goes away by noon, so it's not too bad. If it stays like this, I'll consider myself blessed, as I know many more people have much worse problems with their allergies.

Edited to add: And speaking of allergies, I'm off to Menard's in a bit to pick up some weedkiller and fertilizer. Wheee!

I'm working from noon to 6pm today, closing the store for Carmelle. She's going in for her third mammogram in 3 weeks. She had a benign lump in her breast some 18 years ago, and they want to see if this new lump is another tumor of sorts, or if it's just scar tissue from the old one. I really hope everything goes well.

Jack and I are off to Menard's and Wal*Mart. After that, I'll go to work, and then I believe starrchld Annie and at least Brad from the Thrasher family are coming over tonight. Brad wants to lay down some peat moss for the garden, and then he'll re-till the area to mix it all in good. We've got lots of clay here, so it should help to break it up some.

Ack! I just sneezed, and it caught me by surprise and I wasn't ready, so I bit the inside of my lip in the process. Ower. I'm just keep injuring myself, it seems. Last night, I came in to fill up a watering can for Jack, and I snagged my fingernail on the cabinet and ripped a split down the middle. It took me probably 10 minutes to get the pieces of nail to stop hanging off at horrible angles. *shakes head*

Edited to add: I received a little mosquito bite sometime in the night. It's right in the middle of my forehead, and it already itches like crazy. Oh, and my pee is smelling bizarro-weird today - like lemons and cream, or something. I feel like I'm making a dessert souffle when I take a pee!

Whew. That was a long and exhausting day at work! ;-)

Nah, as soon as I got to work, the phone rang. It was the doctor's office, calling to reschedule Carmelle's appointment. So instead of closing this afternoon, I'm going to open the store tomorrow morning.

I've had a single hair that's been driving me nuts all day. You know how you can feel a piece of hair somewhere, stuck to the back of your arm or on your shirt but tickling your arm each time you put it down? And it takes ages to get it yourself? Well, that's what I've been doing all day. :-P

No TV on. No train noises. No talking. It was just too quiet, so I had to go check it out. Here is what I found:

Jack fell asleep while kicked back in his purple chair.

I love this boy!

Edited to add: It's been about 15 minutes now since I took this picture, and he's SNORING now, even!

Edited AGAIN to add: After over 40 minutes now, I decided to move him to the couch for the rest of his nap. He's still snoring away, but now he's tucked safely under his "fishy" blanket. ;-)

Jack is having a red-and-white swirled, heart-shaped lollipop right now. A.J. just came up to him and asked him what it tasted like. Jack thought for a minute, and then he replied with, "Cherry and... snow. It tastes like cherry and snow."

:-D

It was very windy today, and the weather was pretty crazy for a while. It was cool and windy this morning, really overcast by mid-morning, threatening by lunchtime, raining shortly afterwards, then back to threateningly overcast again. Then, all of a sudden, the sun came out! I'd bought the fertilizer and weedkiller this morning during the first bout of 'really overcast,' and I was so excited to get it all done that we ran outside at the first big rays of sunshine!

I'd bought a 15,000-square feet bag of stuff, but it wasn't enough, and I ran out somewhere between 1/2-way and 2/3-way through the yard. I was so afraid to stop for the day for fear of a rainstorm ruining my chances of finishing, so the boys and I quickly jetted off to Wal*Mart, bought another 15,000 bag, and then I easily finished up the yard. natgraluk Maria and her kiddos showed up to play just as I was putting the finishing touches on the yard.

(Oh, and by the way hetterrific Heather - I borrowed your spreader. I'll take it back tomorrow evening during the nighttime kitty check.)

starrchld Annie came over a bit later to check out her freshly-tilled garden. She loves it already, and we plan to go plant-shopping on Wednesday afternoon. (I'm sure I'll be absolutely NO help, but she insists that she'd like me to tag along.) :-)

I will miss the scrapbooking group at church tomorrow while I'm covering for Carmelle at the store, but we'll still be going to the New Members class tomorrow night. It will be our 4th week in the 5-week series, and I'm already wishing it wouldn't end so soon!

*yawn* Hmmmm... I'm very, very tired suddenly. It's not even 11pm yet!
