Fight Club: This movie was not what I was expecting in the least. I thought it was going to be an action-packed, on-the-edge-of-your-seat kind of film, but it was actually a very quiet, slow-moving kind of flick. And it's long. 2 hours and 20 minutes. But Edward Norton and Brad Pitt both do amazing work, and it does have such an interesting ending. I really can't say much more about it, but I liked it well enough.

Animals are Beautiful People: Cute, cute, CUTE! I rented this movie on the recommendation of [livejournal.com profile] theswedishchef, and it was sooo worth it! The movie is by the creator of the famous The Gods Must Be Crazy, which I LOVED years ago. It's actually a documentary about animals, but the narrating makes everything so cute and funny. Philip and I watched this one evening, Jack watched it the next morning, and then Jack watched it again when A.J. returned home from school that afternoon. They both loved it. Check it out - I think anyone would like this one!

SNL: The Best of Mike Myers: Exactly what you would think. Some of his very best skits, but there were still a lot more that I wanted to see. We've watched this one and the Dana Carvey one, and we'll probably also check out the Adam Sandler one, too.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, everyone!!

I'm sooooo ready for Thursday! I did all of my Thanksgiving food shopping on Saturday at Wal*Mart (yes, crazy, I know!). A.J. and I circled the parking lot for 17 minutes before finding a spot. I knew it would be crowded, but I didn't think THAT much!

The plans:

Everyone is coming over for a big breakfast and to watch the Thanksgiving Day parades on Thursday morning. Thanksgiving Day dinner will be at 6pm, instead of lunchtime. That will give me more time between meals, and it will also mean that one more family will be able to come.

The food menus:

BREAKFAST
Cinnamon Rolls
Orange Cinnamon Rolls
Blueberry Muffins
Apple Cinnamon Muffins
Cranberry Muffins
Bacon
Hash Browns
Scrambled Eggs
Fruit Salad
Orange Juice and Milk
Hot Apple Cider and Hot Chocolate

DINNER
Turkey and Gravy
Ham and Gravy
Cheesy Mashed Potatoes
Stuffing
Rolls
Cranberry Sauce
Corn on the Cob
Green Bean Casserole
Potato Salad
Glazed Carrots
Deviled Eggs (ew!)
Pumpkin Pies w/ Cool Whip
Apple Blackberry Crumble Pie w/ Ice Cream
Sweet Tea and Sodas

MMMMMmmmmmmmm! See? I want it all NOW!

A.J. lost his second tooth on Saturday night. That's two in about 2 weeks, I think, and another one will probably come in the next 2 weeks. He's got a third one that is getting loose. All three in a row on the bottom.

*sniffle*

My baby's growing up. :-(

(Btw, the little acrylic cases that scrapbooking punches come in make GREAT tooth-keepers for Mom. Clear, easy to see through and easy to label.)

Lots of things to talk about. ;-)

Yesterday was November 23rd. As such, it was the 40th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas. I always remember the date well, since it is only 10 days after my birthday, and also because I grew up in Texas. Each year, we got out of school on that day. I wonder if they (the schools) still do that???
**Edited: Apparently, I've remembered this incorrectly this year. JFK died on Nov. 22nd, 1963. Oops. (thanks, [livejournal.com profile] psykk0e) And that means that he died on my Grandpa's birthday too.

Yesterday was also my niece Lindsay's 10th birthday! Happy Birthday, Lindsay! It's so hard to believe she's 10 years old now - I remember when she was so tiny, at about 3 years old. Wow.

Jack got his very first salon hair cut yesterday. I've trimmed it two or three times at home before, but yesterday was the first time it was PROFESSIONALLY done. And what a schmuck mom am I - I completely forgot to take a camera with me! And I call myself a scrapbooker! He surprised me, too. I thought he would wiggle and squirm and be upset the whole time, but no. He sat perfectly still for the stylist, and he was so excited to be a "superhero" when she put the cape on him. He giggled when she would touch him with the "tickle" clippers. I was so proud of him. :-)

Contrary to popular belief (at least, in our household. Philip and I believed so.), Goobers candy are NOT chocolate-covered raisins. They are chocolate-covered peanuts. I graciously accepted 2 boxes of Goobers from [livejournal.com profile] hetterrific a while back, thinking they were raisins. The boys LOVE chocolate-covered raisins, and when they ran out of their original stash, I opened a box of Goobers for A.J. And tried one myself. And was shocked!

They're not bad... they're just not 'right.' :-/

We got our first snow the night before last. Not much, only about a 1/2-inch or so. But it has mostly stuck, so it's definitely cold now. :-)

I made White Potato Soup last night. It was my very favorite and most-requested food when I was a child, but last night was the very first time I ever made it myself. I began by calling my mom for some quick directions, of course! I must say it turned out just like I remember. MMMmmmm! I'm having a bowl of leftovers today for lunch - yummmmm!
