Last night, the boys were bathing. Well, A.J. was already bustin' a groove in our bathroom shower, but Jack was still perched on the toilet in the boys' bathroom, doing his thing while the tub filled with water.

And I had to pee. YES, NOW. So, since Jack was occupying the first toilet, I had no choice but to burst in on A.J. (The shower doors are opaque, yes, but still.) So I'm sitting there, wondering if I'm done yet or not (it sounds weird, I know, but if there's water running, I can't hear when I've stopped peeing!), and A.J. says suddenly, "Mom! Hey, Mom! Look what I just found!" He then opens the shower door a crack and pushes his hand through, and I see...

a tooth.

Another one of his molars. That he "just found!" no less. I laughed and asked, "You just found it? Not 'it just fell out of my mouth'?" But he was certain. "No, I was rinsing, and I saw it on the floor, so I reached down to pick it up. I just found it!"

Then he opened the door a bit wider, and I asked to see his mouth. Sure enough, he was sporting a new hole, though the spot wasn't bleeding at all. But I guess while he was be-bopping, the tooth fell out unnoticed, and he then "found" it on the floor.

*shakes head*

Only my kids. Three teeth ago, Jack lost one in his sleep and woke up to it on his pillow. I can tell you this for certain: losing teeth was never quite that easy for me. ;-)

Toothless.

In the last 48 hours, Jack has now lost both of his upper middle teeth. He lost his third tooth on the bottom about a month ago, so he's now got quite a bit of "straw space" in there! ;-)

More teeth gone

He has a speaking part in his school music program on Tuesday night. Here's to hoping there are not a lot of 'T' words in what he needs to say, as he has very little "eeth" left in there!

Jack is reaching some exciting milestones right now, and I keep meaning to put them down.

1) He has his first very wiggly tooth! It shan't be long at all now before that bud falls out, and I'll have a gap-smiled 5-year-old in my house once again. He's about five months behind (age-wise) when A.J. lost his first tooth, but then Jack cut his almost six months behind A.J. as well. It's funny how that works out, isn't it? When A.J. had his first loose tooth, I couldn't wait for it to fall out - I wanted him to have that "big boy" milestone, and I was so proud of him. For Jack, I'm torn between different emotions: happy because it's a big milestone, sad because he's still my baby and I'm just not ready for my last baby to loose a tooth, as well as wistful - wishing that Philip could be here to see this "first tooth" come out as he was when A.J. hit this same event. Regardless of my feelings on the matter, though, that tooth is coming out SOON!

2) Jack headed out to play this afternoon, only to immediate return with a BIG envelope that had been delivered and stuck inside the screen door. And it was for him - it was his Kindergarten registration packet! When I told him what it was, he took off running through the house, "A.J., I just got a big letter from Kindergarten! The Kindergarten wrote me a big letter saying I can come next morning!"* He's so darn excited, and I can't wait to take him to the Kindergarten Round-Up later this month.

* No matter what frame of time in the future we're talking about, Jack always refers to it as "next morning." At dinner, if I ask him if he'd like leftovers for tomorrow, he'll answer, "Yeah, I want to have them next morning." If I tell him anything is happening in the future, he'll ask excited questions about what he'll be doing "next morning" during said holiday celebration. I love Jack-anese. :-)

I'm getting old.

Seriously, the fluoride treatment has NEVER made me want to gag so bad as I do right now. It's been half an hour now, but they told me to wait for a full hour before eating or drinking anything. I feel SO SICK to my stomach - ugh!

The good news is that my teeth are perfect, healthy and strong. No cavities again - yay! Not only that, but the dentist seemed AMAZED that my diagnosed gum disease from last year seems to have healed itself - and that's supposedly not really possible. However, I never went back for the six weekly treatments (to the tune of $900+ last year), but he said there's virtually no sign of it this year... and he seemed baffled.

Color me pleased. :-)

*stomach wobbles*

I think I'm going to have to take something to drink with me to pick up Jack. I want to be able to drink something at one hour ON THE DOT.

A.J. lost his 7th tooth tonight. It's been very loose for a while now, and we actually tried pulling it out two nights ago with a washcloth. He wanted it out so badly then, but as much as I tugged, it just wasn't coming. I finally stopped and told him we'd just have to wait a bit longer.

It fell out in the bath water tonight. No, really. It did.

Have you any idea how difficult that was to find in the bubbles? On the plus side, it's quite the clean little tooth. ;-)

The 'tooth fairy' has been anticipating this loss all week, and she had therefore prepared herself with some $1 bills. In fact, I hear her knocking now, so I should probably get up and go show her to A.J.'s room...

* and [livejournal.com profile] mostcurious? You're probably the only one who would be curious wonder as to exactly which tooth he lost - facing A.J., it was the tooth just to the right of the missing upper two in this icon that you want me to replace. ;-D

A.J. lost his second tooth on Saturday night. That's two in about 2 weeks, I think, and another one will probably come in the next 2 weeks. He's got a third one that is getting loose. All three in a row on the bottom.

*sniffle*

My baby's growing up. :-(

(Btw, the little acrylic cases that scrapbooking punches come in make GREAT tooth-keepers for Mom. Clear, easy to see through and easy to label.)
