"Who you gonna call?"
Jun. 16th, 2005 02:00 pmA follow-up to this entry:
So after reading one or two comments suggesting it, I *did* go ahead and call security forces yesterday afternoon. I didn't find out much. The LE desk (law enforcement) said that they did not have a foot patrol in this area on the record from that night. (He looked this up when I told him that I'd not been able to spot a patrol car anywhere.) However, I learned that the few Navy cops that work with us on this base do not wear the berets - just regular caps. It's most likely that it was a Navy cop and that he didn't follow the proper procedures and radio anyone that he left his vehicle.
I don't feel better or worse knowing any of this. I just... know.
However, I still live my life. I can't go around being scared all the time, just because I'm alone (well, and with the kiddos).
Philip has worked nights for the 6.5 years we've been in the Air Force, so I learned a long, long time ago to depend on my own calming techniques. That night was no different. I laid in bed with my eyes wide open for an extra 15 minutes, yes - but I promptly reassured myself and went to sleep just after, rather than staying up all night watching for more 'bogeymen.'
Thank you all, though, for your concern. *hug*
