navygreen: (Me: hair)

I've dreamt of shaving my head the past four nights in a row. Not entirely shaved, I suppose, though I know at least one night I thought that. But mostly just buzzing it almost completely off.

These dreams come from nowhere, and I don't usually dream the same thing over and over. It's decidedly odd.

May not help but who knows?:)

I found this online at:

http://www.dreammoods.com/dreamdictionary/s2.htm

To dream that you are shaving your head, indicates a desire that you want to reveal more of yourself. If you leave some hair on your head, then it suggests that you are not completely prepared to let others see who you really are. You are afraid what people might think. The few clumps of your hair serves as some sort of safety net.

So I don't know if that makes any sense but thought you might want to read it...

Wow. I've never put much trust in dream-analyzing, but that's pretty damn spot-on.

girlfriend - do not do a Britney. I'm sure it would feel really freeing and light and a good fresh start - but shaving - ugh. Go red or platinum or something less crazy! LOL

I keep dreaming that I tell people things. Or at least that's my excuse. I have conversations with them in the morning [for real] and talk about things I mentioned last night when really I didn't mention it at all. But I could swear that I did. Very odd too.

Sounds like time for vacation. Where should we go?

Well, a vacation would be one thing, that's for sure. I'd then have time to tell you the hours and hours of stuff that I'm feeling trapped in, the stuff that I just don't have time to get out here in my journal (why are there not more hours in the day?).

You know you can call me anytime if you want to chat. Anytime, I mean it. I know that sometimes just talking is much easier, even in small bits if need be. I know you have others that are probably closer to you but I want you to know I'm here for you if you need me.

You're going to have to excuse me while I psychoanalyze. But, if you're having a recurring dream, that's a pretty clear sign that it is in relation to something you're actually feeling, and because it's recurring, it's not a resolved emotion.

Common dream interpretations tend to rely on society's common attributed meaning to a symbol. So, the above link is pretty reliable, but it also could be related to a less common or more personal symbol.

For instance, men in the military get buzzcuts, and as your husband is in the military, for you, shaving your head could be a symbol that has something to do with Philip.

Also, we do live in a post-shaved-Britney world, and so many of us associate a shaved head with acting out, a loss of control, desperation; whatever your impression of Ms Spears will be what the head shaving represents to you.

And it all sort of depends on how you feel about the shaved head. Exposed? Unburdened? Relieved? Regretful?

Ditto - my psych minor concurs. Recurring dreams typically mean you're attempting to resolve something within yourself.

Actually, though I've never been one to believe in dream stuff, the link above is pretty spot-on.

Oh my goodness....! I had a student who would actually do things like that when she was stressed.

I guess stress is the reason? Dunno.

Well, I would think so. You have a lot going on these days. I sometimes write down dreams that are puzzling or interesting. I can't figure them at the time, but years later when I have some perspective on that time in my life the meaning becomes very clear. I have dream diaries from high school.

I think it sounds like you want to (unconsciously) begin anew. However I concur with marshmelococoa----try a much different color instead. I've changed my hair color SO many times over my life. It's quite renewing and invigorating, looking in the mirror and seeing such a different me.

I dyed my hair one time - once! - and I hated it. It cost me $98 to fix, too. I probably won't be doing that again anytime soon.

Lol, I'll do it if you do it!

Patrick always teases me about shaving my head, although I've never done it, but I said I might :-)

But this is one of those things that would be infinitely cooler if we lived close enough to one another to take pictures together. :-/
