The Lite of Love.

I had an idea a few days ago, and last night I was up way too late, working on pictures for one of Philip's troops. Before bed, I remembered this idea, and I finally put it into action.
I pulled the boys' Lite-Brite® from the toy shelf, and I set myself before an empty side of the Cube. I pawed through the tray of colored pegs, searching for three specific colors: white, pink, and red. I dug through the pile of used patterns, hoping to find one of the "blank" sheets of paper (no design, but just dots stamped on the page in the same pattern as the Cube itself) - no dice. I decided to place a used pattern over a piece of dark paper, trying to align the dots in that way, but the colored pegs wouldn't easily go through both materials. I dug out a dark shade of brown construction paper, and I used an old pattern to cut the paper to the correct shape. I then placed my new "blank" sheet on the side of the Lite-Brite, and I began free-handing my special message:

I finished just seconds before I heard Philip's alarm go off in the bedroom at 4am. I hurriedly set the Lite-Brite on the kitchen table, turning off every other light in the house. Then I snuggled into bed and headed to dreamland, certain he would find my message as he entered the kitchen to grab his lunch for the day.
And he did. When I woke a few hours later to take the boys to school, I had a sweet message in my email inbox from him at work, thanking me for the "pleasant surprise." I'm glad he enjoyed it - especially as it took much longer than the five minutes or so I'd thought it would!
