I just ordered another lens cap for my (very) old Olympus C-740 UltraZoom. The one we had for it broke a few years ago, and we never replaced it. I'm torn between selling that camera or giving it to A.J. as a starter digicam. Jack received a small digital camera for his birthday - a Pirates of the Caribbean one. It's not great quality, but it's good for him. Giving the old Olympus to A.J. would be a considerable step up, but after all, he's older.

I also just ordered a 15mm eyepiece extender for the new Canon Rebel XTi. Even with screen protectors over the LCD, I don't like getting "nose prints" on them, and I'm anxious put a bit more space between my huge nose and the viewfinder. In addition, a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II lens is on the way, as well as another UV filter. The camera bag is getting quite hefty! Unfortunately, my circular polarizer filter arrived in pieces, so I need to call about getting it replaced (but I keep forgetting during the daytime).

Everything for the Canon PowerShot S2 IS is still in good condition. It's crazy to think that we have four digital cameras in one house!

Edited to add: Yes, I know that I haven't yet posted any pics from the new cam. I've taken some, but I've not done much learning yet, and there is quite the curve for the Rebel for me. I promise I will post some eventually...

The camera bag is getting quite hefty!

That's why I got a wheeled one. :) (plus it fits my laptop)

I guess I've got a fat nose & not a long one 'cause I've never had problems with nose-prints on the viewfinder. :)

I can't believe I'm up before my insanely early alarm! (the weather forecast kept getting worse & worse so I'm leaving REAL early for Boston :P)

I'm a country girl, and I've got no class. But I'm not ashamed!

And since you just used that icon, is that an easter egg filled with peanut butter?

Nah, that icon came from this entry (now with defunct pictures links - my old photohost went bam!). But the eggs were 1.5lbs of solid milk chocolate each - it was literally as big as my entire hand!

For me, it's the optical zoom that's important. The old Olympus is a 3.2mp, 10x optical zoom.

I think that is what I'm wanting but I don't know that much about it. My camera says 5X optical Zoom. If I get a new lens would that help me out?
