Since a few of you have asked, I will share house pictures. Of course, these pictures were gotten by slightly illegal means, but since we've already confessed to the "proper authorities" now, there's no harm in sharing them anyway. ;-)

I took these on Sunday afternoon, after sneaking into the house through the sliding doors in the back of the living room once again (that's how we'd gotten in the first afternoon, right after finding out our address). It was overcast, and I realize now that I should've used my flash... oh well. The pics are still enough to give you an idea of the house.

I found about twenty different floor plans for housing, but not one of them is mine, or I'd link to that as well.

I'll put a few pics under the cut, but I'm going to include a link to the entire gallery of pictures as well. A description is underneath each picture, and hopefully that will help identify what you're looking at.

Living room, taken from the sliding doors.

One side of the kitchen, taken from the living room.

Dining room, showing garage door.

Garage.

2nd closet in entryway (there are three!), with coat rack inside.

Entrance to master bedroom.

Master bedroom closets.

Main bathroom, taken from hallway.

View from master bedroom.

View of the backyard, showing about 2/3 of it (some is out of view).

Garden bed in front.

And you can view all the pictures HERE.

That's so exciting! I love yet hate moving. I love being in a new place and redecorating, but I HATE packing and unpacking...

And no one can see us in our backyard, either! It will be nice to have a bit of privacy in base housing!

I will have PLENTY of room. I may not garden next year, just so that I can get a feel for how mowing it will go. ;-)

I found about twenty different floor plans for housing

Well at least you know you won't have the exact same floor plans as all of your neighbors like a lot of military housing. :)

And the walls aren't white! I can't believe it!
Base housing has changed so much since I grew up.

I'm very happy for you. :)

I was able to find a few that are fairly close, but still not quite right. As for the walls, they definitely won't be white. The living room will be a deep red again, A.J.'s room will be Jubilee yellow, Jack's room will be Gourd (a muted shade of orange), and I'm still tossing around the idea of a forest green for the dining room.

Here's wishing your new neighbors are more, shall we say, 'balanced' than previous ones. I know, not all of your neighbors were doozies- you found a treasure in Heather after all. But it's like that saying about having to kiss a lot of toads before finding a prince. Here's to a toad-free yard! ;-)

Yeah, if they're going to be crappy, I'd rather them just be crappy right from the get-go. It would make things easier on everyone.

Holy Cow! That looks like a real house and not a base house at all!!!! That is soooo exciting!!!!!! When did base housing start looking so good???? :-D

I'm thrilled for all of you, Nicole.... just thrilled!!!

I know! It looks more like a regular duplex, and doesn't have that stamp of "base housing" all over it. :-D

Wow! It looks like a fantastic house! I'm so jealous of your extra bedroom... I think we're going to have to move again after we adopt - I'm not sure there is actually enough space for 4 kids in this house! :)

The cool thing is, if I were to put our table in the living room/dining room combo (you can tell it's meant for this purpose by the nifty chandelier hanging over one end), then I'd have TWO extra rooms. But no, I'm going to use the extra front room as a formal dining room instead, leaving myself with just the one extra room. :-)

It's beautiful! How wonderful! Is it new? (Sorry if you've posted that part before. :-) How far away is it? Same schools? Can you draw us a floor plan? How many sf? The backyard is amazing! It'll be so fun for the boys. Very, very cool!!

Thanks! And no, it's a renovated unit. The duplex is actually the address we'd written down as a "possible/maybe/like-to-have" in our own notes, as we've been cruising around base housing all summer watching the renovation going on. We were SO EXCITED to wind up with the unit we'd wanted - especially since we'd never told housing of our wishful thinking on certain units in particular. :-D

It's about a mile away from our current house, I'd guess. Not any closer to the three schools in base housing, so we'll continue driving the boys to the school which A.J. currently attends. As for floor plans, I'm really hoping to find one online or get one from our housing consultant - if I were to draw one, it'd be horrible! Hopefully then, I can give square footage as well. :-)

Wow. That's a nice place :-)

You know, I don't see any reason to paint the walls... they are about the same color as the walls in our place. Except, you can't live without your red living room.

Yep, this will be our new house. Remember that the military is tearing our current house down? We'll only be about a mile away from this one, so we still have time to get together sometime. :-)
