Annie/Douglas update!

Craziness! I woke up suddenly in bed, and when I looked at the clock, I could NOT believe that I'd not heard something yet from Annie or her crew. I was so worried. I'd taken the phone to bed and slept with it 2 inches from my head, so I knew I hadn't slept through a phone call either.

I called Annie's cell phone, and it rang and then went to voicemail. The time was 4:40am. I got out of bed to pee and get a drink, and then I climbed back into bed and got snuggled in the covers again.

At 4:46am, the phone rang. I jumped to life, grabbed it, and it was Annie. She was laughing, and she was saying, "We *just* got through! You called right as we were getting through!"

So little Douglas is here now! Well, except that he's not so little, actually! She pushed for three solid hours, and then the doctors ended up having to use the vacuum to get him out. Poor Annie! She was getting stitched up even as she was talking to me. And here are his stats:

She apologized to me for the date, and we laughed. I told her I'd forgive her... THIS time. ;-) But he's here now. Let the confetti-throwing begin!

I know! Annie is skinny, and she had a perfectly round, ball belly. Nine pounds just makes it even more obvious that she was ALL baby!

Yeah, she's really, really tired this afternoon. I'm going to visit her tonight, hopefully after she's had a chance to get in 5-6 hours of rest.

Yeah, I was two hours of pushing... that wasn't fun!!!!

Good job for her!!!! what big baby! mine didn't weigh 9 pounds for like 2-3 months!!!

Yay! No, I'm sure the pushing wasn't fun at all. I can't empathize - I only had two pushes with A.J., and Jack literally slipped out while I was trying to keep him in! As for the weight, neither of mine weighed that much until they were 4 weeks old (A.J. was 9 lbs, 2 oz. at that time, and Jack was 9 lbs, 1/2 oz). Both were only 7 lbs, 8 oz. at birth - much nicer to deliver!

I have a friend whose due date is Saturday. I haven't heard from her; but I haven't heard anything from her husband, either....
