Annie update.

I just spoke with Annie's mom at the hospital. Poor Annie is still dilated to only 3cm, not yet fully effaced either. She's not changed since 2-3pm. The baby is facing up towards her belly (rather than towards her back, the ideal position), and this is causing the pain to be more intense for her and for things to stall.

Her mom said they had to give Annie some pain meds - put her on a drip - and that Annie's still pretty upset about that. She shouldn't be upset, of course, but it's not what she'd wanted to do. And I'm sure the hours with no change are not helping her emotions either. :-(

At the moment, they are trying to get the baby to change position, and Annie was suspended on her hands and knees in an effort to do this. Heather has been off work for an hour now, and she is actually helping both Annie and the nurses right now. She'll probably be there for a good while, but I'm hoping to talk to her at some point, too.

So think good thoughts for Annie, and think position-changing thoughts for little Douglas. I'll update again when I know more.

good thing they're getting her off her back... :) hurray for ehather, I wished I had had someone like that with me, I would have gone a lot better myself.

aw, you're welcome. fellow back laborer myself. belle would n't tuck her chin under... they thought at one point she could have been face up b/c of it.

but they wouldn't let me up to walk b/c my water had broken, and the doc was an ass, and they wouldn't let me off my back b/c they couldn't montior then. I wonder why it was so painful... so I sooooo sooo happy she has a nurse there that she knows. that is sooooo kind of heather. I know to hire a doula next go around. :)

i hear back labor is the worst. laboring mamas have a special place in my heart. i hope the little boy turns. it seems as soon as they turn a woman usually dialates and the baby is born quickly.

cases like these are why epidurals are great. it can give mom time to relax and baby a little room to turn.

Back labor is NOT fun. I had it with A.J., and I literally spent six hours suspending myself off my back on my forearms.
