My pal rafferty posted a meme yesterday in which, if I commented, he promised to make me a userpic from one of the interests listed in my userinfo. I thought, "What the heck? Why not?!"

This morning I woke up to my prize, and it's perfect! He combined TWO of my interests, AND he added humor! I love it! I would never have thought of it on my own, but it is so great!

Well, my research tonight tells me that the picture is captured at Cape Meares (sp?). And once I had the idea, I had to find the lyrics to your state song. It's a beautiful tune, but I'll be honest and say that I only know the words to the Texas state song by heart. ;-)

YES - Cape Mears! That's exactly the place I thought it was!

This is looking north from Cape Mears. Cape Mears itself has a lighthouse. I love lighthouses, and this is the one I've been in most often. Just to the south of the cape is a TINY town called Oceanside. Dad says it's his favorite of all the places on the coast. Tillamook (the town on the inland edge of the bay just behind the spit of sand) is famous for it's cheese. A visit to the area isn't complete without stopping a the cheese factory. I usually make a beeline to the dairy's ice cream counter - YUM! Along the headland in the distance of the picture (or maybe just past it) is the area that my great-great grandfather homesteaded.

In other words, if you're ever in the area, this is one of the places I'd love to take you to!

Awesome, and that sounds like a date!

Honestly, I saved about eight or nine images of different places along the coast before I started working on this. I narrowed it down to this one, but who knew I'd be picking a place that has really special meaning to you?!
