This is so aggravating.

I was talking to Marissa on the phone last night, and my computer mouse began to behave sketchily. Remember, now, that this is a brand-NEW computer mouse, as I bought a new one only two or three weeks ago when the original mouse had a heart-attack in its right-click button. This new mouse will no longer scroll to the left, and it's making using the computer a slow process.

Any thoughts?

Is it a laser mouse?

I had that same issue last month---I picked it up and looked at the laser and there was a ball of kitty hair wedged up in there. I pulled it out and all was good again.

Nope, not a laser mouse. It will actually go left probably one out of every 15 tries, and it's also really sluggish about going down. I took the thing apart last night and cleaned the ball, but there wasn't really anything on it. I tried turning the mouse pad around, and I tried using it with NO mouse pad, even. Nothing seems to work.

Did it use to work better? If not go to the control panel and try altering the mouse settings. And if that doesn't work, go get an optical mouse.

I'm glad I'm not the only person who had the same thought...

...and now we're cleaning mouse balls?

Instead of cleaning the ball, look at the two little rollers where the ball sits. There will likely be a little ring of fuzz on each roller where the ball contacts the roller. Scratch that ring off and it should work fine.

I'd just take it back to the store and exchange it or something.

Hmm and it's brand new? I'd call the company.
