Today's agenda includes super-fun things like these:

• at least three loads of laundry - maybe more (we'll see if I feel "spontaneous" later on)


• filing the paperwork that has accumulated on my desk since our return home only eight days ago


• dishes - unloading and reloading the dishwasher


• vacuum


• pictures - these need so much work, it's not funny (I'm backed up to mid-November, I'd say)

I also need to get the finishing touches going on our taxes. They're just about done, really, but I'm going to wait until Philip's W-2 from the military comes online only because it's always a guess (for me, that is) to see exactly how much of his pay will be nontaxable due to his being in a combat zone for nine months. When I estimated this figure from his Saudi Arabia tour four years ago, it was still off by a few hundred dollars, so I'm just going to wait this time.

thats interesting. I had not thought about him being out of the country means that his income is not taxable in the same way. Interesting! Though I'm sure any extra money is SO NOT worth him being gone for so long! :-(

You're right - it is not worth it. The way things work out, it doesn't actually make a big difference in our taxes, and the extra money he made while in a combat zone (hazardous fire pay) wasn't equal to what he makes here working at his second job (Runza). People asked all the time if we were "making" lots of money with him being gone - it's just not like that (at least, not for us). The only place fiscally that we DID notice a change was in our food budget: it costs a lot less to feed two boys and one adult than it does to feed the whole family.
