Guess what is playing in my living room right this very minute! Guess!
...
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - *squeeeee!*
One of Philip's friends made it for me. I feel so illegal, and yet so profoundly happy at the same time. Of course, we'll still be buying the movie the second it comes out. Oh, and it's very likely that I'll see it in the theatres a time or two before it's gone, even though I've already seen it five times. But it's here!
I fixed A.J. his oatmeal, and I just put the movie in. It started, and as soon as he saw what it was (because remember, he's already seen it at the theatre too), his jaw dropped and he said, "WICKED!"
I am so proud. :-D
...
Right this second: "I'll bet that cleared your sinuses, eh?"

Date: 2005-12-06 06:11 am (UTC)I don't really know what else to say. As for the proud remark, I meant that I was giddy beyond belief to hear A.J. use the word "wicked" (which is used often by the Weasley clan in the movies) instead of "cool" - it adds to our geekdom, and shows that he's picking up British-isms from the films. I never meant it in any context other than that.

Date: 2005-12-06 06:53 am (UTC)I just feel really strongly about this type of thing and it's not something that I think is a reflection on you though I was a little disappointed when I saw this post came from you. Not that I'd expected it from my other friends; I just don't agree with participating in illegal activities no matter who does it.
Your kids always say and do really cute things so I really enjoy when you make posts about them. I really didn't mean to seem like I picked on your post because of the nature of the subject. (I have to point out that the word "wicked" is hardly a "British-ism".) That's not why I said anything though. I wanted to comment this morning when I saw it, but my first reaction was one of anger and I couldn't do that. Then I came back and saw a bunch of posts that seem to support this and then I saw Dan's lone disagreeing post and I made my comment mostly so he'd see he wasn't the only one who felt differently.
I guess... I don't really have a good response to your reply.

Date: 2005-12-05 05:09 pm (UTC)We usually end up pirating just so we can watch it before it comes out on video (like you're doing.) The last movie my husband pirated was The Devil's Rejects. I was sure this was not going to be a movie I would want to own. Watched it and the moment it came out on DVD I ran and bought us a copy. Cause I wanted all those bells and whistles.
We've probably bought more movies because of pirated copies than less.

Date: 2005-12-06 06:14 am (UTC)We started the movie during breakfast this morning (Philip brought it home from his midnight shift last night), and watched it through. After that, the boys haven't let me watch it again. They kept wanting to watch Home Alone and Home Alone 2 over and over again (and we've been watching these for DAYS already!). Those old VHS tapes of mine are looking really ragged now (because I loved them a lot even when I was younger)!
