Baked Spaghetti
16oz. pkg. spaghetti noodles, cooked
2 24oz. jars spaghetti sauce
2 # ground beef, browned
4 T butter
4 T flour
4 T grated Parmesan cheese
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
12oz. can evaporated milk
3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided
Combine spaghetti, spaghetti sauce and ground beef; set aside.
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter; add flour, Parmesan cheese, salt and garlic. Stir constantly over heat until smooth and bubbly. Add evaporated milk and 1 cup cheddar cheese; stir until thoroughly melted. Pour half of the spaghetti noodle mixture into a 9x13 baking dish and pour cheese mixture over top. Pour remaining noodle mixture into dish; top with remaining cheddar cheese. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Serves 12-14.
Strawberry Banana Whip
3/4 cup boiling water
1 cup ice cubes
1/2 medium banana
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/c cup strawberries, cut into halves
1 env (4 serv.) strawberry-banana Jello
Sprinkle Jello over boiling water and stir until dissolved; stir in ice cubes. Transfer to blender; add banana and yogurt and process on low until pureed. Pour into 4 6oz. dessert bowls, cover and refrigerate until set (1-1/2 hours). To serve, top each portion with strawberries.
Bite-Size Chicken
Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-size pieces. Marinate the pieces in Italian dressing for a day or so. Dip pieces in egg, then into cornflake crumbs. Place chicken on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Banana Bread
3/4 cup shortening
2 very ripe bananas
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups flour
pinch of salt
Mix all together. Put in a greased loaf dish. Bake for 1 hour at 350 degrees.
