navygreen: (HP: Harry and the Potters - signed my BO)
Remember Harry and the Potters? We've seen them in concert a few times, and I've been "friends" with both Paul & Joe DeGeorge on Facebook for a long time. (As much as one can be, that is - they have over 2000 friends!)

Now usually, when either one of them post, the comments are immediately flooded by the hundreds. Last night, however, Joe DeGeorge (Harry, Year 4) posted the following status:

"When I worked at NASA everyone used Spacebook."

...

LOL. The more I thought about it, the more I chuckled. Even more, the replies coming in were very few, but hilarious:

"When I worked for my church everyone used Gracebook." -- Sarah Wilkes
"When I worked for the post office, everyone used Macebook." -- Jordan Jiminez
"When I was in art school, everyone used Tracebook." -- Kate Murtaugh

I thought for a few moments, and then I added my own to the mix:

"When I interned at NIKE, everyone used Lacebook."

And, within a minute or so, I got a notification that Joe had actually "liked" my comment! How fun! Over the night/morning, more comments came in my sleep:

"When I worked at the track, everyone use Racebook. And Pacebook." -- Brooke Leary
"When I worked as a cartographer, everyone used Placebook." -- Anne Hartz
"When I worked at the orthodontist, everyone used Bracebook." -- Lucy Debenham
"When I worked in Las Vegas, everyone used Acebook." -- Anne Fahlen
"When I saw the sign, everyone used Ace-of-Basebook." -- Kate Gavino
"When I was a street vandal, everyone used Defacebook." -- Alix Cesvet Lind

So far, that's all there is, even with 7 hours passed. I'm amazed and so amused. That Ace-of-Base one made me really laugh!

Edited to add: There's several more now! :-)

"When I worked as a production assistant on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, everyone used Erasebook." -- Matt Maggiacomo
"When I worked at the tabloids, everyone used Debasebook." -- Debi Baron
"When I worked as a DA, everybody used Casebook." -- Rae Carson
"When I worked on Miyazaki's "Spirited Away", everyone used NoFacebook." -- Debi Baron
"When I worked as an antique dealer, everyone used Vasebook." -- Kristen Mohr
"When I was Harry Potter, year 5, I used UPPERCASEBOOK." -- Kylie Robinson
"When I was in kindergarten, everyone used Pastebook." -- Jeremy Shulkin
"When I worked for Hendrix, everyone used Hazebook." -- Debi Baron
"When I was a member of Puff Daddy & the Family, everyone used Ma$ebook." -- Matt Albertsen
"When I worked as a bounty hunter, everyone used Chasebook." -- Kristen Mohr
"When I worked in ceramics, everyone used Glazebook." -- Paul Johnson

I had my annual girly appointment today (my yearly violation). It went well, and the new doctor was extremely attentive. We talked over several things, and she also surprised me by giving me the referral to urology straight away (I have an appointment with my regular doctor next week to discuss my bladder, as well as other issues). She told me that there was no point waiting the extra week just to get the referral going (which involves a wait process anyway), and I easily agreed. This appointment was the first among the many I scheduled two days ago. One down, eleven to go!

I spent a large part of yesterday afternoon working on some sketchings for [livejournal.com profile] syven. I'm not really good at drawing, but I've got the mainframe of some ideas I'm mulling over. I took my clipboard and worked on the drawings some more while waiting in the doctor's office and referral office, too.

It's Thursday today, but it really feels more like Tuesday to me. I just can't believe that the week is over tomorrow! The weather has been so sunny and warm, and I feel like I was constantly scrambling to catch up this week. Jack has a soccer game tonight, and then I'm making a spicy pasta dish tonight for dinner. I made it once before, having found the recipe in my Taste of Home magazine, and it's really yummy. The cream cheese lends an unexpected soft flavor to the sauce, and I'm excited to make it again.

The weather should be absolutely gorgeous all weekend. Philip is off, and I'm sure the boys will all be outside for a large part of it. I've got two cookies orders to ship off on Monday morning. I hope to bake tomorrow and have the decorating done by Saturday morning so I can play, too. We have no plans otherwise, so it should be relaxing and easy. :-)

From my friend Sarah today:

"True story. Was at Goodwill today looking for props when the cutest boy asked what I was shopping for. After I told him I asked what he was shopping for, he said, 'My mom brings us here to play with the toys.' My heart sank for that sweet boy.

I kindly asked his mom if I could buy a toy for him. With tears in her eyes, she said yes. So I told him to go choose whatever toy he wanted. He then asked if I would also buy a toy for his baby sister at home. :) I said sure. For $15 I bought a microwave and some play food and blocks for his baby sister, but he gave me SO much more. I will never forget that sweet boy's face.

It took all I could muster to not grab him and squeeze him and not let him go, but I'm sure his mom would have thought I was looney tunes. ;) Without being prompted he said, "Thank you nice lady". I walked to the car and tears ran down my face."
