At this time today, I was doing the following:
7:42am: turning off our alarm clock (for Philip to take A.J. to school)
8:42am: turning off our alarm clock (for me to take Jack to school)
8:50am: waiting for Philip to "style" Jack's hair (using lots of styling goo) for 'Crazy Hair Day' at his preschool
9:00am: dropping off Jack at preschool
9:10am: eating breakfast
9:20am: waking Philip up once again (he'd gone back to sleep while I was gone)
9:45am: making a pan of Scalloped Potatoes, and I peeled and cut up the leftover potatoes for Philip to make homemade french fries for lunch (and he was mowing the lawn at the time)
10:30am: popping the Scalloped Potatoes into the oven
10:35am: beginning to rake and seed the yard with grass with Philip
11:00am: walking into Target with Philip to buy a full-size rake (we'd been using just a hand-size rake, and it wasn't good enough)
11:15am: walking into Menard's for the rake (Target didn't have it)
11:33am: picking up Jack from preschool (rather, Philip went in and signed him out while I ended up chatting in the parking lot)
11:40am: pulling the freshly roasted Scalloped Potatoes out of the oven and beginning the preparations for Philip to grill burgers
11:50am: accepting cards from Marissa to mail for her later on with my own packages
12:05pm: begging Philip to start the grill because I was STARVING
12:20pm: seeding some more patches on the front lawn
12:35pm: sitting down to a lunch of grilled burgers and Scalloped Potatoes
1:00pm: cleaning up the lunch dishes and starting the dishwasher
1:18pm: telling an entranced Philip and Jack (they were playing a NASCAR game on the X-Box 360 together) that I was leaving for the post office and would be back soon
1:25pm: mailing my package and cards and buying stamps for both Marissa and myself
1:40pm: returning home to find Philip and Jack virtually unmoved
1:55pm: trying to find the last spot I'd read on my LiveJournal friends' list (back 250+ entries - yikes!)
2:10pm: working on the yard some more, filling in patches with seed while Philip raked them up for me
2:40pm: washing up and preparing to pick A.J. up from school
2:45pm: leaving
3:05pm: waiting on A.J. to walk to the van
3:15pm: reading through my cookbooks to find a good recipe for the Parents at Home potluck tomorrow morning (our last meeting of the year - *sniff*)
3:30pm: suddenly tearing up due to a horrible stinging/burning pain in the roof of my mouth/throat
3:45pm: coughing, gasping for breath and practically crying from the searing pain in my throat (and not understanding how it happened so suddenly)
3:50pm: taking some Motrin, spraying some numbing Chloraseptic on my throat and sucking on an expired cough drop, hoping desperately for the pain to subside
4:05pm: calling Marissa to cancel dinner plans (nearly crying while trying to talk)
4:25pm: feeling a bit better as the second cough drop finally managed to numb things up a tiny bit, though still wondering what the HECK happened so quickly
4:30pm: watering the new seed in the lawn before Philip left for work (our spigot is broken, and I needed him to turn on/off the water for me)
5:00pm taking another stab at reading a chunk of my friends' list
5:35pm: fixing some snacks for the boys
6:40pm: heading outside to do some more raking/seeding, boys "helping" this time around
7:35pm: coming inside because we had several raindrops fall on us
7:40pm: heating up dinner (leftovers and Scalloped Potatoes from earlier)
8:30pm: doing dinner dishes
9:05pm: tucking boys in bed
9:15pm: devoting some SERIOUS time to my friends' list, finally catching up and not skipping one SINGLE post (and commenting a heckuva lot, too!)
11:00pm: not answering the phone when Philip called (I did listen to him leave a message) because my throat hurts, and I didn't want to talk
11:01pm: calling him back to tell him that I did have the paper he needed
11:02pm: taking some more Motrin and popping another cough drop
11:05pm: beginning a post for today
And there you have it. I don't know how I've managed to get a sore throat so suddenly, but I'm almost thinking it has something to do with the grass seeding/raking today. It was really windy every time I was outside, and I'm afraid some of the stuff may have irritated my throat/sinuses.
