I just called and paid off A.J.'s clarinet!

*happy dance*

When we purchased A.J.'s clarinet in September, it was on the recommended rent-to-own plan (we couldn't be sure that 1) he'd want to stick with band, or 2) he'd want to stay with that instrument). As such, the payments were very low, and it was a 27-month deal. However, the cashier told me that if we paid off the instrument within nine months' time (June), we'd have 20% taken off the entire price. I mulled that over in the back of my mind.

Last week, we had an unexpected gift. We debated putting the money into our savings, but then we discussed how much nicer and more beneficial it would be to pay off the clarinet early, and for 1/5 off as well. So I just called up Dietze Music down in Lincoln, and it's a done deal!

A.J. has already chosen and registered for his classes for middle school next year, including band again. If, in the future, he ever decides to quit or switch instruments, we can sell the clarinet outright and not still be making payments. That's good news, but I think he's sticking with it for a while - he loves it. :-)

I'm so glad he's still liking band :) In a few years he might be really glad to be the only boy in the woodwinds ;)

Ooo, I like your new layout/colors :)

Well, I try every so often to do brighter layouts, but I always so much prefer how much easier the darker layouts are for my eyes... so I end up doing something different. I *almost* went straight back to my fave - the Casino - but I decided to do a shout-out to Jack with the orange instead.

Plus the black backgrounds make my pictures POP! a bit more, I think. *grin*

Right now, the clarinet section is divided up about half-and-half. We'll see how it goes. ;-)

Oh, that's good. We didn't have any boys in woodwinds when I was in school, and only two girls crossed the gender line to play brass. Well, that's not true. The saxophones were divided about half and half. But there were no male clarinets or flutes.

Yeah, I think the darker background does make the photos pop. And everything looks so much brighter on my new computer screen too. I should probably change my journal up a bit too. It looks ... dated.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear it's not just me. Of course, I'm sure other people don't sit around and look at my journal as often, so they don't find themselves going, "Hmmm, that would look better on this color, I think," either!

Change it up, have some fun! I can't imagine sticking with one style for years and years. Heck, just *think* of how many layouts and styles I've used and made over these 7.5 years?!

Think of all the great opportunities to suggest a clarinet 'study session' :):)

Of course, if he's like every other kid on the planet, now that you paid for the clarinet, he'll decide he wants to play the cello!

Of course, all of this is tongue-in-cheek because neither of my boys are ever, EVER going to date! *wink*
