Super Ale!

Bless the Shopping Gods, for they inspired me last week to pick up a six-pack of small bottles of ginger ale. I saw them, and I thought, "Huh. Now that DOES sound good!" So I grabbed them, and that was that.

I promptly forgot about them when I got home.

But then A.J. woke up with an established fever, headache, and tummyache yesterday (I don't know how high the fever was, as the tiny battery inside the ear thermometer is dead, and now we need to get a replacement). He slept most of the day, and I finally got him to eat some chicken soup late in the afternoon. He also had a small plate of chicken nachos for dinner, while I heated up various leftovers for all of us.

Seriously, what's better when you're feeling crummy that an ice-cold, glass-bottled ginger ale? Pretty much nothing, I'd say. He's home from school today (fever's gone, but it hasn't been for 24 hours yet), and his throat was sore this morning. He didn't miss anything yesterday, as the kids were out for President's Day anyhow. He's been chatty and fine this afternoon, so I'm sure he'll be back to school tomorrow. :-)

When my brother-in-law Mark is sick, ginger ale is DEMANDED. Doesn't matter if it's a bad head cold, flu, fever, upset tummy - he simply must have his ginger ale. We've even had to make a 2am Wal-Mart run to buy some, because he was hysterical at the thought of not having ginger ale while ill. He won't drink it any other time, either.

I'm the one that really just likes to drink it, but even then, it's been years since I've thought to buy it. It was just a little display, and I was like, "Heeeeeeeeeeyyy...!"

Janet likes room-temperature, de-fizzed cola when she is sick. Sounds gross, but it works for her.
