I just spent half an hour seated on the dining room floor, sorting through the "candy baskets."
See, we normally have a "Candy Basket" (a Longaberger® Small Market™ Basket) that sits atop the baker's rack in the dining room with assorted candy. Anytime we acquire new candy, it goes into the basket, and is added to the mix.
But we went through a dry spell over the summer, not really eating much of the candy leftover from last year's Valentine's Day and Easter celebrations. And old chocolate tastes powdery and icky, so it needs to be thrown out. When Halloween finished up, we had a massive amount of candy, and I needed to weed through the old stuff to toss it out (lollipops never go bad!), but I didn't have time right then, so I tossed it all into a bigger "Candy Basket" (a Longaberger® Large Boardwalk™ Basket).
But it was never an ideal solution, as the Boardwalk as usually the "Snack Basket," and the boys help themselves from it in the afternoons after school. So - finally - today I tossed all the old crap, and pruned down the Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's stashes, and tossed everything into the newly-emptied, original "Candy Basket." And now I need to go shopping for more snacks for the "Snack Basket," as it's pitifully empty!
Yes. Yes, this is how I spent half an hour on a snowy, wintry day. Contain your jealousy over my fun-filled antics. ;-)
