Philip's parents will be here in just over 2 hours. His mom just called, and they are in Chicago right now, with all of their flights "behaving" just as they should. I'm glad. :-)
I had called them yesterday and told them to pack all of their very warmest clothes. Our high today is supposed to be 0*, and we've been in very negative temperatures at night. Nancy (Philip's mom) was trying to fit things into one of their smallest suitcases, but the big, bulky clothes just weren't going to make it.
Maria and I scrapped together the past two nights, and
Annie joined us on the first one, even. I'm s-l-o-w-l-y making progress on the album I'm doing for our nieces and nephews, but I've been more gabby than scrappy during the last two get-togethers. ;-) I don't figure I'll scrapbook any while Philip's parents are here, and I really don't see myself doing anything next week either - short of snuggling in Philip's arms. But I bet I'll throw myself back into all of my stuff soon after he's gone, if for no other reason than to help occupy my mind.
Philip leaves now in 9 days. Tonight is his last night working at the base, as he has out-processing procedures all next week. We've got appointments with legal (wills, guardianships, etc.) and all that other fun stuff next week. *sigh* I really dread all of this.
He and I talked 3 nights ago, and we decided that it would be best if Philip told the boys of his departure alone. We had planned to do it together, but I honestly still haven't been able to not cry when I start talking about it - nevermind looking into my boys' eyes and trying to tell them. So Philip told them while I was at Char's for the Hostess Appreciation night. Since then, we've already noticed a definite change in A.J. - he's holding Philip and clinging on to him at every chance. That was expected, really. Jack, on the other hand, is still just too young to grasp what's going on.
I'm still in bad-friend mode. I'm reading some stuff, but mostly I'm still skimming, and I'm just not commenting to anyone hardly. I've not really been answering emails, either. I'm here, and I'm getting and reading them, but I'm just not sitting at the computer long enough to actually ANSWER anything. Today, I will sit down for at least 5 minutes to file Maria's taxes, but that's about it. If anything major is happening in your life, please drop me a comment and let me know, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
