So, I did our taxes tonight. We should be getting a nice chunk back at the end of the month - just over $5k! Wheee!

I wanted to get our taxes out of the way before Philip's parents arrive on Friday afternoon, and before the whirlwind of last-minute meetings starts next Monday before his departure. There will just be so much going on, and it was in my power to have this done super-early... so I did. Now I just have to twiddle my thumbs until the morning of the 14th so that I can actually FILE them (the e-files can't be submitted until that date).

La la la.

Ghirardelli hot chocolate and cheese nips before bed? Fantastic. 'Night all!

So let's clean the floors today, shall we? It's the perfect day to do so: there's still ice all over outside and more on the way tonight, plus some new snow coming. Yes, I think deep-cleaning all the floors is a wonderful idea!

Anyone who offers to help (or at least, watch ME do it) is invited to the sock-ice-skating party afterwards. We can slip 'n slide all over, practicing our pirouettes a la Scott Hamil (or Tom Cruise, if you'd rather). ;-D

Hello?

If you are the police, you should never phone someone and begin with, "I'm afraid I have some bad news, Ma'am."

It should not be allowed.

Philip has been gone all day today, firing and get his certifications renewed before he deploys on all his weapons. Translation to me: he's working with guns all day, surrounded by other people working with guns.

And the police call my house and say, "I'm afraid I have some bad news, Ma'am."

...

Thank goodness they were only doing their annual fund drive. Yes, sure, I'll send you some money, but DON'T EVER DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!!

*relieved*

In other news, I reallyreallyreallyreally hate hiccups. Really.

Yeehaw! Our taxes are officially filed! (I originally thought I'd have to wait until the 14th to actually submit them, but I was able to do it today with no problems.) I even got the confirmation email that they had received the return - yippee!

Now, the IRS still won't begin processing returns until Monday, the 17th, so I'm certain I won't hear from them until at least the 18th... but still - my part is DONE, baby! :-D

Snow!

Snow Day! (Okay, it really wasn't - as in, the schools weren't closed today - but the kids played in the snow a lot while Philip was chipping ice off of the driveway, and I was snapping pictures. :-)

Also today, our TV was out for hours, so Jack amused himself for most of the day by working lots of his puzzles.

Jack and Baby have the same intent look upon their faces while working a puzzle.
