I'm so THIRSTY today. All day today, and I've been carrying a bottle of water with me everywhere since the moment I woke up. What the heck?

Seriously, it's like "drool-on-myself" kind of thirsty. Please tell me that happens to other folks, too? And if chugging water doesn't seem to help my thirst (which it isn't), then I'm not sure what else to try. I mean, water's usually better than coke or cocoa, right?

*sigh*

*drool*

*sigh again*

LOL. No, no more alcohol for me, thanks. I'll stick to just water. ;-)

i blame dry winter air.

That's probably it, actually. Especially since we've had the heater going more than usual this past week now.

Are you diabetic or anyone in your family diabetic?

Oddly, I crave water at night. In fact I have a bottle of water in front of my right now. :o)

I believe that my grandmother was diabetic... but I could also be *totally* wrong there.

Yeah, I've heard that before.

I was going to ask that too. One of the first signs of diabetes is increased water intake and increased peeing. [PUPD - polyuria polydipsia] Do some research and see if you should be tested.

"Increased peeing" is a part of my daily life. So much so that I had to have a bladder sling surgery three years ago. ;-)

um, water is NEVER better than cocoa!!

Yes, keep drinking the water and suck on some hard candy or something in between. Hopefully it's better today.

I know! Cocoa is TEH WIN. :-D

Dehydration is very common during the winter months and most people don't realize it. Excessive thirst is the first sign of being dehydrated. Have you had any type of headache in the back of your head? That's another sign. Also, what color is your pee? Especially before you suddenly became thirsty.

Since our weather has suddenly gone very, very cold I have been extra thirsty too and have gone through lots of water as have my son and hubby. It really hit the other day when I spent all that time outside with the dogs trying to get Cha Cha to do her thing. You were out playing in the snow with the boys a few days ago and your body could have gotten a bit dry.

If it persists, there's the diabetic thing to watch for also. But I know from my mom, who is pre-diabetic (her dad was diabetic and her sister was just diagnosed), that her water intake was related to different types of food she ate. I think she said more starchy foods made her really thirsty. So do sweets.

Keep an eye on things girlie.....

Yeah, I've had the headache, too, but I chalked that up to the barometer in my brain going nuts from all the crazy wintry weather. ;-) Oh, but my pee is almost clear, Mom. (Hehehe.)

Could just be all the dry heat/winter weather. Most indoor temps right now are incredibly drying. I've been finding myself very thirty at night time lately. I wouldn't worry about it unless it goes on for weeks. Just drink more water if that's what your body wants! Incidentally, I've learned over the years that I need to drink a minimum of two quarts of water a day to feel remotely ok. My body is much happier with 3 to 4. By most standards that's waay excessive. Just to give you a ball park of what your body might be wanting. Oh, and no history of diabetes in my family or with me. I just need lots of water!

3-4 quarts?! I'd float away... :-)

I know! Most people would too. It's kind of freaky ;)

It does happen to me, and my sugar is fine. ;D

I think I just go through phases, for one reason or another (which I'm never able to pinpoint at the time).
