Grrrs and/or Arghs.

Generally speaking, I'm quite frustrated at the moment, as nothing is going - generally - my way.

And yes. I did just use the word 'generally' twice in the same sentence. So sue me.

(Speaking facetiously now, of course.)

Grrrr.

In my new house inside my new kitchen and in the midst of my new microwave, my over-the-stove lightbulb burnt out on Monday. This has caused me anguish, as that particular light is soft and, well, light, and it's easy on my eyes. It's my #1 light in the kitchen, and I use it copiously.

So I thought I'd replace it. I unscrewed the cover and pulled out the bulb to find a bizarre substance at the base of the burnt-out bulb, and when I touched it, the strange crystalline stuff shattered and showered in glassy-looking bits all over my freshly cleaned stove. I was concerned, you see, so I put a call in to housing maintenance.

And they called me back the next morning. I explained my concerns, and I learned that since the brand-new microwave was still under warranty, I needed to call A&E Factory Services for any/all repair and/or replacement questions.

So I did. And I set an appointment for this morning. The service guy was friendly when he arrived ten minutes before I needed to be at work, and he checked everything out. He said it was all normal for a new appliance, and that the weird white stuff was probably extra caulking that had been heated when the appliance first went into use. He didn't have bulbs on him, and I wasn't worried - surely I could take the old bulb to store and buy a replacement, right?

Wrong-o.

I've been to Target, Menards and Wal*Mart, and no one carries a bulb like this. I'm frustrated even more now, as I've already waited days to have my favorite light in the kitchen back, and I still can't get'r done.

*sigh*

And the Argh? I'm ridiculously horny, and there isn't another ugly around here with which to bump.

Guess I'll go eat worms. Happy Friday, all.

Try a lighting shop. For the bulb, not for an ugly to bump with ;)

You would think that since Menards is - generally speaking - a hardware store, and that since they have 934762 kinds of lamps, as well as 432876 kinds of bulbs, they'd have it, right?

Again with the wrong-o.

Grrrr.

Wow, that post woke me up when I got to the horny line. Quite a shift from microwaves to...well...hehehehe.....

I'm so sorry it's not been your day. I don't have any idea where you could find a similar bulb either.

[identity profile] 1grl-revolution.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Do you have a specialty light fixture shop you could go to? The one we have here sells every single possible type of lightbulb you could imagine. It's quite impressive.

Oh shit, you said Horny! That makes me laugh, for some reason.

We got your cards yesterday. Arden was tickled pink!

[identity profile] fiendfyre.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 04:55 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] beanpop.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* I'm with you in the horny department!

I got your card yesterday!! It was lovely and the first to go on my wall =)

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
And it's bound to be frustrating to you to be at my house and not have that light either!

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
We probably do, but I'm so chicken about driving and finding places I don't already know of...

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes there's just not another word that will work, y'know?

But yay - glad you got our cards!

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, I know. I figure at some point in the future I'll have to lock everything because my kids will also be online. *sigh*

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, it is!

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay! And thanks!

[identity profile] navygreen.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Only about five more days, and then I should be good again. ;-)

But yay that you got my card! I got yours too!
