Hair, half-birthday, maintenance and cake.

I got my hair cut today. Jack went with me, and he wore his conductor's hat everywhere that we went to run errands. Strangers seemed to get a kick out of him in his get-up, and they struck up several conversations with him. He adored the attention (as always). ;-)

His preschool half-birthday celebration is tomorrow morning, so we'd been trying to come up with a special treat to bring for his classmates. We brought train cookies last year, so we wanted something different. The preschool requests that cupcakes not be brought, and I really wanted to get away from the cookies/cake/brownies that many other people have done this year. Jack decided on fruit dip, and I thought that was a great suggestion! I had to talk him into wanting to bring fruit as well, though - heehee. So we're taking fruit cups (cantaloupe, strawberries, pineapple, red grapes, oranges and green apples) and fruit dip to share tomorrow. He's all excited to wear his new glow-in-the-dark dinosaur shirt as well. Four and a half years old - where does the time go??

I called maintenance this afternoon for a couple of things. The light fixture in our bedroom fell out of the ceiling (and landed on a pile of clothes waiting to be folded, so nothing broke this time), and our front doorknob fell off this weekend as well. They came out within five minutes, fixed the doorknob and placed a work order for an entirely new fixture for our bedroom. From the time I called them to the time they left was only 25 minutes - awesome response, that is. :-)

Jan called me earlier to get my recipe for Pineapple Upside-Down Cake, and then she said she's going to bring me some a little bit later tonight. Yummy! I better go figure out what's for dinner now, since I already know what's for dessert!

I wish my preschool had done half-birthdays. That's really awesome, though. And so is the quick maintenance respose. It's good that they don't wait a year to get around to fixing things.
