Just Peep'ing in...

My sister sent me a recipe to try a couple weeks ago, and I saved it until closer to Easter. I finally made it this past weekend, having picked up a few packages of traditional yellow Peeps®.

See?


Sunflower Peeps Cake.

The cake was delicious - just your typical yellow cake with chocolate frosting. It was four layers high, and we each had one piece, but I gave away all the other slices to our neighbors. Philip was ecstatic to eat the Peep on my slice (I can't stand those - *shudder*!), as well as all the leftover ones I'd not needed for the cake. :-)

I saw this on Yahoo the other day, right before Easter. I kind of wanted to make one, even though the idea of eating a Peep kind of makes me nauseous. I loved them as a kid but now... *shudder*

Peeps. Basically, it's a super-sweet, shaped marshmallow covered in fine sugar. It's just *too* sweet to be good, in my opinion.
